I came across a post on Stage 32 the other day and someone asked if they were too old to get into screenwriting. Side note: this person was in their 50s. Anyways, a majority of the comments were saying it's not too late, and it got me thinking, "How many people have gone through their lives wondering if it's too late to achieve something?" If you think about it, there's no age limit for anything. Some people don't start their careers until much later in life. Even outside of film, if there's something you want to achieve, it is possible, no matter your age.
If you really want to get into screenwriting, there are so many routes you can take. For example, screenwriting classes. It's a great way to learn something and even be around other students. You're not alone, and you'll even learn the craft. When I took screenwriting in college, I learned a lot and even developed my craft thanks to my peers' feedback. If I'm being honest, I even apply my knowledge to my clients' feedback. Note: Everyone learns differently and feedback is subjective, so it's all up to the writer to decide if they want to apply it or not.
Whatever you decide to do, you can start your screenwriting career whenever you want. If you try it for a few months and find it challenging or don't think it's for you, don't be hard on yourself. You should be proud that you tried something different.
