When someone comes up to me and asks for feedback, about 90% of the time, I'll say, "Yes". However, this last encounter I had wasn't my cup of tea and seemed like a "professional". Let's get real here, feedback is subjective and just because I've never sold anything, doesn't mean I'm not good at what I do. Currently, I've been volunteer reading for SWN, first in their HOP program and now in their HCP program, and I've had rave reviews and feedback from them, so much so, I felt good about what I was doing. Here's a few things to know before working with me.
#!: Send the full script!
If you're really interested in full coverage on a script, you might want to have everything complete from start to end. I was nice enough to provide first impression thoughts to the writer, but apparently, it wasn't enough for them. Maybe it was because my brain had a hard time making sense of the script or it wasn't my cup of tea, but I should've seen this coming, yet I took a chance. This might be a blessing in disguise.
#2: Don't come in and act like you run the place
Don't you hate it when someone comes up to you and orders you around? This was a different client I had, and they were curious about something I didn't offer. Normally i don't edit scripts, but I used my best judgement and did so. A few months go by and I guess their true colors showed. Script editing is different than providing feedback because I can't really say, "Here's where the script could be better." or "Here's where so and so could develop more..." Imagine if someone came to your job and started treating you like a boss or knows better than you.
I'm thankful that I was able to please his needs and "improve" his script though.
#3 Check out previous testimonials and my website before reaching out
I might look like an innocent person, which I am, but it's important to know who your ideal reader is. Have they had things produced professionally in the industry? Are you open minded to feedback no matter who you see? What is your overall goal? Why me? I get asked a lot about pricing and my background. Everything you need to know is on my website! Just click around, check out old feedback and read the testimonials. Don't like what you see? My feelings won't be hurt. My ideal clients will find me!
So, if you really want to work with me, just follow these simple steps and I'll be one happy clam!
1: Make sure your script is ready for feedback.
2: Check out my website to see if my services will help achieve your goals.
3: Reach out to me either via e-mail or Linked In and set up a consultation call.
4: Fill out the intake form prior to the consultation call.
5: If interested, feel free to either venmo/paypal or pay on my website with your script attached. We can discuss that during our call.
6: I'll provide an estimate of a turnaround time for your script. If needed, we can hop on another call and go over it before I send it back. My overall goal is to make sure you are satisfied!
